Pennridge Little League Challenger Baseball Division

“Yes you can play”

Mission:
Pennridge Little League’s mission by launching the Challenger Division is to provide an opportunity for any child from the Pennridge Community with physical or intellectual challenges with a safe place to learn the game of baseball, build confidence, make new friends and have fun!

What is the Little League Challenger Program?
The Little League Challenger Program was founded in 1989, is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.  Little League Challenger baseball is more than just a game. It is a way of empowering, inspiring, and connecting these children with their families, friends, and communities.

How PLL Challenger Baseball Works:

This division of baseball is designed to accommodate the needs and abilities of each child in the Pennridge Community. Each child gets a chance to bat, run, and play the field. The Pennridge HS baseball players and Coaches and well as other PSD organizations like National Honors Society and Key Club will assist our teams as “buddies”. The buddies help the players with their skills, encourage them, and cheer them on.

PLL  Challenger baseball is not competitive. It is all about having fun and making friends. The children wear uniforms, use equipment, and play on fields that are similar to those used by other PLL baseball teams. They also will have an opportunity to walk in and/or participate in our Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies.

Each team will gather twice each week during the Season (April, May, June) for Instructional and Game play.

Why PLL Challenger Baseball Matters:
Our Challenger baseball program is more than just a game. It is a way of making a positive difference in the lives of these children and their families from the Pennridge Community. Here are some of the benefits of participating in PLL Challenger baseball:

  • It improves physical and mental health. Playing baseball helps the children exercise their muscles, improve their coordination, and develop their motor skills. It also boosts their self-esteem, confidence, and happiness.
  • It fosters social and emotional skills. Playing baseball helps the children interact with others, communicate their needs and feelings, and express their emotions. It also teaches them values such as teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
  • It creates a sense of belonging and community. Playing baseball can helps the children feel accepted, valued, and supported by their peers, buddies, coaches, parents, and spectators. It also connects them with other Little League International Challenger Programs and Leagues from across the country
